The Energy-Agric Nexus for Rural Economic Development was a 2-day conference held in Abuja which highlighted the opportunities available to SMEs within the Agribusiness and Renewable Energy sectors towards unlocking different sources of funding in the financing ecosystem.
The conference was organised by FCMB in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency, The European Union, Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), Heinrich Boll Stiftung (HBS) Foundation and Power For All.
The conference was borne out of our firm and consistent commitment towards helping to improve Nigeria's energy access and building a sustainable future for businesses, homes and individuals for overall national development.
The keynote speech was delivered on behalf of the bank by Mrs Yemisi Edun, Executive Director - Finance, who emphasised that access to clean, modern, sustainable energy is critical for improving the health and livelihoods of billions of people around the world as captured in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG7).
Over 300 participants were exposed to knowledge sharing and networking opportunities in the Agriculture and Renewable Energy sector.

The SME Clinic is a capacity building event targeting the informal sector of businesses such as traders across Nigeria.
The event is held monthly with the aim of bridging the knowledge gap identified amongst SMEs who may have challenges in their businesses.
It provides customers unlimited access to experts in the Financial industry, Government Agencies and other Public sector who through deliberate teachings clarify issues around Tax and Financial management and key product offerings of the bank.
The 6th edition of FCMB’s SME Clinic was held in Abuja between the 25th to 29th of November, 2019 at two locations in the zone – Karu and Garki 11 Branches. The Clinic featured seminars on Tax, Business registration, Stock-keeping and Quick loan.
In attendance from FCMB were Zonal Head, Garki Mr Gbenga Adetunji; Lead, SME Abuja & North, Emmanuel Akeju; National Sales Manager, BBG Valentine Osobase; Digital Sales Assistant, BBG, Ngozika Egbuna; Liability MIS Officer, Michael Obasi as well as Branch Managers; Account Officers and DSAs from Garki zone. Also present at the respective events were Consultants in the relevant areas of focus.
The workshops which had a combined attendance of over 200 SMEs, created an opportunity for SMEs to interact with experts towards solving developing challenges.
