Ms. Mosunmola Umoru is an Agribusiness Entrepreneur who started her journey straight out of college with Honeysuckles PTL Ventures marketing freshly processed chickens, snails and catfish to quick service restaurants in Nigeria. Honeysuckles markets its products under identity Farmshoppe™, a retail trade brand for fresh farm produce.
Mosuns is currently the Founder & Chief Realization Officer of Harvesters Farms Limited, and a part of her role is to oversee the development & operations of over 7,000-hectares agribusiness operations across the South-Western part of Nigeria.
Proudly calling herself a ’Farmer’, her companies engage principally in farming, food production, processing and distribution of a wide range of produce which include: Chickens, Eggs, Snails, Catfish, Fruits and Vegetables as well as cash crops.
In 2009 Mosunmola also set up ABIRA Agricultural and Educational Support Initiative to help bridge the gaps identified in the Nigerian Agricultural ecosystem and to pursue significant Youth involvement in the sector realizing that sustainable economic growth rests on a viable MSME development.
ABIRA engages schools, governments, and businesses through a range of highly impactful partnerships and interventions and to establish a training program to teach agribusiness to young people across Africa.
She launched her retail business Farmshoppe™ in 2011, a retail brand for fresh processed farm produce.
Mosun obtained her foundational Degree in Zoology from the Lagos State University (L.A.S.U), Ojo.
She has a Certificate in Enterprise Management from the Pan Atlantic University’s Enterprise Development Center.
She is an Ashoka Fellow, a Goldman Sachs 10,000 women Scholar.
She is a Desmond Tutu Fellow.
She is an Alumnus of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitors Leadership Program.
She is an Alumnus of the SAID Business School of the Oxford University.
She is an Alumnus of the WITTS University in South Africa.
She is Alumnus of the Stanford School of Earth, Energy and Environmental Sciences.
Pretty Miss Farmer as she is fondly called has served as an ambassador, advocate and consultant to the African Union Commission (Youth Division).
In 2015 the World Economic Forum selected her as the only cohort from Nigeria as Young Global Leader (YGL) which in turn earned her the prestigious Dangote Fellowship for Fellows of African Descent.
Mosunmola serves on the Boards of several Growing Businesses in Nigeria. Her advocacy initiatives for the Agricultural sector have earned several awards and consultancy roles in Africa
Mosunmola recently finished a three-year term of service as the Senior Technical Adviser (Youth & Gender) to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture in the Federal Republic of Nigeria in March of 2019.
